The Supreme Court ruled Monday that gay and transgender people are protected from workplace discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Title VII prohibits employment discrimination based on gender, race, nationality and religion. The court found for the first time that the federal civil rights law prohibiting workplace discrimination on the basis of sex also protects employees based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. The decision comes amidst the celebration of Pride Month in June. Music: 'Platinum Sky' by Mikael Manvelyan.
