Russian president Vladimir Putin offered an explanation for Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine to pupils he met on the first day of the new school year on September 1, 2022. On the same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met students at a renovated school in a suburb of the capital, Kyiv.
