Argentina’s politically powerful vice-president, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, was unharmed after a man tried to shoot her at point-blank range on September 1, 2022. The loaded gun “did not fire despite being triggered”, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez said. The gunman has been arrested and a weapon was found “a few metres from the scene”, according to a police spokesman.
