A multimillion-dollar broadcasting tower that was built in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo with Chinese financing was set to open its observation deck to visitors on September 15, 2022. Authorities in the bankrupt nation said they hoped to minimise losses from the Lotus Tower project, which failed to attract broadcasting who said the building could not offer the technical capabilities required.
