Thai police fired rubber bullets and tear gas during clashes with about 300 protesters as the Apec summit began in Bangkok on November 18. Ten protesters were arrested. The crowd, consisting of young pro-democracy activists and rural farmers, rallied against Thailand’s controversial growth policy, Bio Circular Green, which is up for endorsement at Apec.
